How long will the shoe last?
Saucony claim their cushioning will last 400 miles. The life of the shoe varies from user to user due to characteristics of running style and terrain. Honestly, you likely will get more than that.
Are these waterproof?
No, the Saucony Canyon TR is NOT waterproof. the material used in the upper of the shoe is water resistant. They are made to drain water quickly when submerged and the fabric does not "hold water," instead it does it's best to wick and dry out as fast as possible.
We rarely stock full waterproof trail shoes. The reason being that if water enters the shoe from the ankle it has no way to escape! The majority of trail shoes are made to expel water that has entered the shoe and dry out as quick as possible.
On and off road? How much can these take?
With such a high stack height of cushioning, similar to a road shoe, these can handle any distance road miles you decide to run, however due to having a little bit more of an outsole (the traction portion of the shoe) it may feel a bit firmer under foot. Also the more roads and pavements you run on the quicker the traction will wear away.
The Canyon TR has a lug depth of 3.5mm (compared to the 5mm lugs of the Saucony Peregrine) . The Canyon TR should be fine for most trails until they become muddy. Then a deeper lug depth will be necessary to avoid slipping.
