Description
The Hoka Cielo X1 3.0 blends the brand’s signature plush cushioning with the responsive snap of a carbon plate, making it a strong option for chasing personal bests across a range of distances. Its two-layer PEBA foam midsole delivers soft, bouncy, and highly responsive cushioning with excellent energy return, while dynamic midsole cut-outs help reduce weight. A full-length, winged carbon fibre plate embedded between the foam layers adds propulsion and stability for a more efficient stride. The shoe features an aggressive Early Stage Meta-Rocker geometry, creating a rocking-chair effect that promotes smooth, fast transitions from landing to toe-off—especially noticeable at higher speeds where the shoe truly shines.
The breathable knit upper and collar provide a comfortable, locked-in fit, aided by an asymmetrical gusseted tongue that improves ease of entry and prevents tongue movement. While some testers noted the original laces can be a bit finicky to secure, the overall fit is widely praised, particularly on long runs and marathon efforts where the ample cushioning helps reduce leg fatigue. Underfoot, the outsole uses minimal rubber coverage to maintain essential grip while keeping weight low, making it best suited for consistent road surfaces.
These are a unisex shoe.
